Sharing knowledge between academics and standardization experts
Academy and capacity building

The IEC recognizes the unique perspective provided by academics and seeks to support projects that can stimulate academic debate and bring new insight on the development and impact of international standards and conformity assessment

Cooperation pledges

The IEC has signed several cooperation pledges with universities around the world as a first step in developing standardization teaching packages.

Partners include the below organizations.

Rosstandart Academy

Shenzhen Technology University

The IEC offers learning modules, developed in cooperation with academics, that can help universities integrate the concepts of standardization and conformity assessment into their curriculum. Students are also invited to participate in courses available through the IEC Academy.

Cooperation with ISO and ITU

As part of World Standards Cooperation, the IEC co-organizes the annual Academic Day with ISO and the ITU.

Academic challenges

Occasionally the IEC organizes academic competitions. Awards are given for the best academic publications based on a chosen topic.

Past examples include a competition on Future Challenges in Standardization organized by the IEC, IEEE and the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS).
