IEC brings together a global workforce of 130 employees - 107 employees in our Geneva office, and 23 employees split across our offices in Singapore, Nairobi, Sao Paulo, Boston and Sydney.

Half of our employees have been with the IEC for more than 10 years.

Reporting to the Director of Communications you will be responsible to increase awareness, preference and use of IEC International Standards and of the IEC Conformity Assessment (CA) systems.

We are looking for an experienced:

Communications Officer – 100%

  • you know how to develop and write well-researched and inspiring content/narratives for online and offline tools, including blogs, articles, flyers, briefing papers, posters, websites, social media, video (filming and editing)
  • you are able to obtain coverage by technical magazines and curate news of interest
  • your listening and communication skills make you the ideal partner for the IEC Conformity Assessment Systems and other IEC departments in need of strategies, messages and tools to communicate their achievements via media/social media and events
  • at ease in a multicultural environment, you attend and report on external events and conduct interviews with participants and key players
  • you are able to coordinate content updates of IEC websites in cooperation with relevant departments or/and based on strategic decisions
  • you will help us ensure that the IEC brand is used correctly throughout all off-line and online publications  
  • you are comfortable to negotiate event endorsements and identify opportunities to place IEC speakers
  • you are eager to contribute to the preparation of trainings and webinars for the IEC community in collaboration with the IEC Academy & Capacity Building

Education / Experience

You have:

  • a degree in journalism or/and in advocacy, communication and public relations
  • excellent journalistic writing skills in English (mother tongue or fully bilingual)
  • an affinity for technology and ability to translate complex concepts into simple, easy to understand language
  • a knack to develop sharable content (video, audio, text, blog, presentations) for social media and print
  • proven experience in project management

To support the Membership, Affiliates and Capacity Building Division, we are recruiting a:

Governance administrator – 100% 

The Membership, Affiliates and Capacity Building Division provides support to the IEC Community at large as well as the Secretariat for the top governing bodies of the Commission reporting to the Director of the division You will also be providing the Secretariat support for the following new governing bodies: Business Advisory Committee (BAC), Diversity Advisory Committee (DAC) and the Governance Review & Audit Committee (GRAC).

Responsibilities

  • provide the secretariat support for BAC, DAC and GRAC and their working groups
  • create meeting agendas, draft and proof-read documents and write meeting reports
  • research issues from various sources in relation to Committee topics, collate content and develop statistics
  • manage meeting follow-up and implementation of Committee actions and decisions
  • review and comment on reports, compile comments from experts, develop briefing papers, support preparation for meetings, and undertake quality control for other Committee documents as needed
  • organize meetings and events
  • some travel required

Education / Experience

  • strong background as an administrator / previous experience in governance-related activities and handling sensitive information
  • prior experience in an international environment
  • some understanding of legal, financial, commercial or IT matters as well as knowledge of associated terminology
  • university level education
  • 5 years’ relevant experience
  • English native or equivalent, with strong writing skills (knowledge of French and Russian an asset)

Skills required

  • sound analytical skills, allowing you to take minutes of complex meetings and to connect the dots between meetings and between subject matters
  • fast learner
  • organization and planning
  • extremely precise, detail-oriented person who is also able to see the big picture
  • team player and customer orientation
